The University Libraries will host a celebration of authorship on March 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the fourth-floor commons, Newman Library. The VT Authors Recognition Event will honor Virginia Tech authors who published books in 2019 and others who published articles with support from the University Libraries’ Open Acces Subvention Fund

“We are dedicated to promoting the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge,” said University Libraries Dean Tyler Walters. “This event celebrates Virginia Tech authors and the impact their published work has beyond Virginia Tech.”

Each year, the University Libraries honors more than 300 Virginia Tech authors during this event. This year, through the generosity of Donald W. Caudill, the Alfred and Shirley Wampler Caudill Special Events Fund will help make this celebration possible. This fund was created by a gift from Caudill in honor of his parents and in appreciation for the sacrifices they made to support his education.

“This annual celebration of Virginia Tech authors is one of my favorite events of the year,” said University Libraries Publishing Director Peter Potter. “It gives us all a chance to step back and recognize the hard work and dedication of the always diverse group of authors from programs, offices, and colleges across the university. It also aligns perfectly with the mission of Virginia Tech Publishing to increase the visibility of scholarly and creative work produced at Virginia Tech.”

If you published a book in 2019, we celebrate you!

Have you authored, co-authored, edited, or produced a book-length publication in 2019? This includes eBooks and other equivalent works, but not book chapters or journal articles beyond those funded by the University Libraries Open Access Subvention Fund. To be eligible for this year’s event, a work should have a 2019 publication date.

Please send your name, department, and complete title of your book to Diane Corday by Jan. 31. The ISBN or other publication information is also helpful, if available.
