Gannon Davis has been appointed director of business and financial affairs for the Division of Information Technology.

In this role, Davis oversees financial planning for the Division of Information Technology, provides direction for salary and operating funds within the division, performs risk assessment for proposed and ongoing projects, and supports the division's strategic plan initiative to develop comprehensive and transparent budget and financial models with diverse and sustainable revenue sources. He works with Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Scott Midkiff and division leaders to ensure projects are adequately funded to succeed and that financial matters are communicated effectively to faculty and staff within the division and the university at large.

“Gannon brings deep experience with Virginia Tech finance and budget processes to this position,” said Midkiff. “Gannon’s leadership and expertise will allow the Division of IT to more effectively manage financial resources and our business processes.”

Davis has more than 15 years of experience in higher education financial management and has served at Virginia Tech since 2007, first as a senior internal auditor and most recently as associate director of finance within the Facilities Department.

“I am very excited to join the Division of IT,” said Gannon. “I look forward to working with staff, division leadership, and stakeholders across the university to provide strategic financial planning and consistent business processes that will help us attain the shared vision set out by the IT division and Virginia Tech.” 

Davis received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from Radford University. He is a certified fraud examiner and research administrator.
