Ken McCrery appointed chief of staff for Division of Information Technology

Ken McCrery has been named chief of staff for Virginia Tech's Division of Information Technology.

In his new role, McCrery works with Vice President for Information Technology Scott Midkiff and division leadership to provide guidance and oversight for administrative and operational initiatives, including recruiting and retention of personnel, performance management, and supervision of projects and technology services that support teaching, learning, and research, as well as the business and administrative functions of the university. 

“Ken has a demonstrated record of collaboration and delivering on projects that support teaching, learning, and university operations,” said Midkiff. “He focuses on service, which is important as he supports me, our senior leadership team, and the university as a whole.”

McCrery has more than 15 years of service at Virginia Tech. His previous role was serving as deputy executive director of Technology-enhanced Learning and Online Strategies, a unit within the Division of Information Technology. Before that, he served as senior director of application architecture and planning in Enterprise Systems, also within the division.

McCrery received his bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
