STORY IS IN PROGRESS

Alexandra DiFeliceantonio, assistant professor of human nutrition, foods, and exercise, is one of a number of new faculty members recently hired in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences this academic year. New positions were identified to bring talent to the college's focus areas, including food, health, the environment, and the economy. The new faculty members are distributed across teaching, research, and Extension.

DiFeliceantonio’s research centers on the neural circuits that underly food choice. To accomplish this, she uses multimodal imaging and metabolic measures to study how the brain integrates peripheral signals to guide motivation, choice, and eating behaviors. She is especially interested in how physiology and brain are affected by the modern food environment. Understanding of these processes is needed to guide future intervention strategies to correct suboptimal diets, which are a major contributor to disease and preventable deaths in the U.S.

DiFeliceantonio received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Sweet Briar College and both her master’s degree and doctorate in biopsychology from the University of Michigan.
