John Brozovsky, retired associate professor of accounting and information systems in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, has been conferred the title of associate professor emeritus by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.

The emeritus title may be conferred on retired professors, associate professors, and administrative officers who are specially recommended to the board by Virginia Tech President Tim Sands in recognition of exemplary service to the university. Nominated individuals who are approved by the board receive a copy of the resolution and a certificate of appreciation.

Brozovsky joined Virginia Tech in 1989. He published more than 20 peer-reviewed journal articles, more than a dozen other articles, one book, and two book chapters. He made more than 30 presentations, including several presentations on International Financial Reporting Standards at meetings sponsored by the American Accounting Association, the Port Authorities of North America, Illinois CPA Society, and the Georgia Society of CPAs, among others.

In service to his students, Brozovsky was the primary advisor to more than 600 undergraduate junior and senior accounting and information systems majors, as well as more than 60 master's degree students annually. 

He also presented updates on the financial accounting standards at annual conferences of Virginia accounting professionals in Roanoke and Virginia Beach.

Brozovsky received his bachelor's degree and master's degree from the University of Texas and a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado.
