Celebrate St. Patrick’s weekend with one of world’s leading traditional Irish ensembles. Hailing from historic County Waterford, Danú will bring a high-energy mix of ancient Irish music and new repertoire to the Moss Arts Center on Saturday, March 16, at 7:30 p.m.

The performance will be held in the center’s Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre, located within the Street and Davis Performance Hall at 190 Alumni Mall.

For over two decades, Danú’s virtuosi players on flute, tin whistle, fiddle, button accordion, bouzouki, and vocals (Irish and English) have performed around the globe, including standing-room-only concerts throughout Ireland.

Returning to the Moss Arts Center for its second visit, Danú will take the audience on a musical journey to its native Ireland, offering a moving and memorable concert experience featuring songs, slides, jigs, reels, and hornpipes.

The group has recorded seven critically acclaimed albums and won awards from the BBC and Irish Music Magazine. Danú’s recordings are available on the Shanachie label and live performances are often broadcast on NPR, the CBC, and the BBC.

This performance is supported in part by gifts from Erv and Betsy Blythe and Larry and Lindsey Bowman.

Prior to the performance, local singer-songwriter Jim Sharkey will perform Irish music in the Moss Arts Center Grand Lobby. Sharkey is an Irish and Americana folk musician who grew up in County Roscommon, Ireland, and came to the U.S. in 1982.
