Julien Cadot named James A. and Renae C. Pearson Collegiate Faculty Fellow
Julien Cadot has been named the James A. and Renae C. Pearson Collegiate Faculty Fellow, with the rank of associate collegiate professor, in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics.
He is the first to fill this position, which was endowed by Virginia Tech alumni James “J.” and Renae Pearson to bring expertise from industry and academia into the classroom to provide students with greater experiential learning opportunities within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The position is tied to the Kohl Agribusiness Centre, a visionary experiential learning program named after Virginia Tech Professor Emeritus Dave Kohl, one of J. Pearson’s life-long role models and mentors.
Cadot’s research background includes a focus on corporate governance, cooperatives, and bank relationships with a specific expertise on the wine industry. In the classroom, Cadot uses case studies and project-based experiences to teach agribusiness curriculum with a focus on finance and governance.
Before joining the department, Cadot held a position as associate professor and head of the finance and economics department at the Institut Supérieur de Gestion in Paris, France.
Cadot received both his bachelor’s in agricultural science and his master’s in agricultural science from Montpellier Sup’ Agro and his doctorate in finance from Montpellier University in France.
