Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018 - Update: 7:08 p.m.

Saturday’s Virginia Tech Football game vs. East Carolina has been canceled. Virginia Tech Athletics confirmed Tuesday that East Carolina University has indicated to Tech Athletics officials that it will not travel to Blacksburg for Saturday’s scheduled football game due to the impending impact of Hurricane Florence.

No decisions regarding the status of other Virginia Tech Athletics home events scheduled for this weekend have been made at this time. Visit https://hokiesports.com/sports/2018/9/11/hurricane-florence-updates.aspx for more information.

More details for fans holding tickets to Saturday’s football game against East Carolina will be made available once further information is available on whether the game could potentially be rescheduled. As soon as those details are finalized, it will be communicated with all impacted parties.

Additionally, Saturday's Corps Reunion activities, including the Corps Donor breakfast, have been canceled.

The Tidewater Agricultural Research and Extension Center, located in Suffolk, Virginia, will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Update: 3:03 p.m.

The Eastern Shore Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Painter, Virginia is closed.

Update: Sept. 11, 2018, 12:33 p.m.

The Virginia Seafood Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Hampton, Virginia, has closed in accordance with Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam's coastal evacuation order.

The test of the VT Alerts system that had been planned for this Thursday, Sept. 13, has been rescheduled to occur on Sept. 20.

The university is planning to test its VT Alerts emergency notification system this Thursday, Sept. 13. Read more on that test.

When a situation arises in which the university determines that immediate action is required, a campus-wide VT Alert is issued. VT Alerts allow students, faculty, and staff who subscribe to the system to receive urgent notifications by a phone message, text message, and/or desktop alert.
