The Moss Arts Center’s free Summer Chamber Music Series brings inspiring performances from acclaimed musicians
A series of free summer concerts representing a diverse and inspiring range of chamber music performed by acclaimed musicians who have shared the stage with some of the world’s greatest orchestras and music ensembles returns to the Moss Arts Center.
The 2018 Summer Chamber Music Series will include four June performances in the Moss Arts Center’s Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre, located within the Street and Davis Performance Hall at 190 Alumni Mall. All concerts are free and open to the public and require no tickets for admittance.
The award-winning musicians participating in the chamber series have performed with some of the world’s most renowned orchestras and music ensembles, including the Vienna Philharmonic, Tel Aviv Chamber Orchestra, Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra, St. Petersburg Symphony (Russia), St. Lawrence String Quartet, National Symphony of Ukraine, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and South Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic (Czech Republic).
In addition to their feature performances, the instrumentalists performing in the Chamber Music Series will mentor a new generation of musicians in an intensive two-week training session with young artists.

“Special Gems”
Wednesday, June 20, 7:30 p.m.
The evening will include performances of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s String Quintet in G minor, K. 516, and Antonín Dvořák’s Piano Quartet in E flat major, Op. 87, and feature musicians Shmuel Ashkenasi and David Ehrlich, violin; Katharina Kang and Michael Klotz, viola; Coleman Itzkoff, cello; and Kwan Yi, piano.
“Brilliant and Powerful”
Thursday, June 21, 7:30 PM
The evening will include performances of Anton Arensky’s Piano Trio in A minor, Op. 32, and Johannes Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34, and feature musicians Jeffrey Dyrda and David Ehrlich, violin; Michael Klotz, viola; Dmitry Kouzov, cello; and Kwan Yi, piano.
“Love in Music”
Friday, June 22, 7:30 p.m.
The evening will include performances of Anton Webern’s “Langsamer Satz” and Johannes Brahms’ String Sextet in G major, Op. 36, “Agathe,” and feature musicians Shmuel Ashkenasi, Jeffrey Dyrda, and David Ehrlich, violin; Katharina Kang and Michael Klotz, viola; and Dmitry Kouzov and Coleman Itzkoff, cello.
Student Ensembles Performance
Saturday, June 23, 3 p.m.
With a program announced from the stage, this matinee performance will feature student ensembles the Calgary Quintet, Schubert Cello Sextet, and Dvořák Ensemble.
Parking is available in the North End Parking Garage on Turner Street. Virginia Tech faculty and staff possessing a valid Virginia Tech parking permit can enter and exit the garage free of charge. Limited street parking is also available. Parking on Alumni Mall is free on weekdays after 5 p.m. and on weekends.
