Geoffrey Saunders honored with emeritus status
Geoffrey Saunders, associate professor of pathology in the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech, has been conferred the title of associate professor emeritus by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
The emeritus title may be conferred on retired professors, associate professors, and administrative officers who are specially recommended to the board by Virginia Tech President Tim Sands. Nominated individuals who are approved by the board receive an emeritus certificate from the university.
A member of the university community since 1982, Saunders made significant contributions to the profession of veterinary medicine through his scholarship in the field of anatomic pathology, and he applied his clinical skills and knowledge through his work at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Blacksburg.
In the classroom, Saunders was an advisor to many students on master’s degree and doctoral dissertations and helped them develop successful careers in the private sector, academia, government, and industry.
He is a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Pathologists.
Saunders received his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the University of California, Davis.
