Reunion 2018 registration is now open
Virginia Tech is launching a new tradition this summer, Reunion 2018 — and it's time for you to make your plans to attend.
For the first time, the university will host a four-day, summertime reunion, June 7-10. The event is a chance for Hokies to come together and explore campus in a new way.
President Tim Sands and Laura P. Sands will host a welcome reception for alumni on Friday, June 8, to kick off the weekend.
Reunion participants will also have their choice of educational seminars and tours to pick from throughout the weekend, including a walking tour of Stadium Woods with Professor John Seiler and hard hat tour of Sandy Hall with Harald Sontheimer, School of Neuroscience executive director.
After exploring campus, Hokies will have a chance to dine with classmates on the Drillfield and catch up during happy hours with others celebrating their anniversary years.
The complete schedule is available online.
“This weekend is about Hokies coming together to celebrate old memories and make new ones,” said Matthew M. Winston Jr., senior associate vice president for alumni relations. “I am looking forward to feeling the energy and excitement generated when our alumni return to Blacksburg this summer to have fun and reconnect to our campus, our community, and with one another.”
Holding one large reunion weekend in June is a new endeavor for Alumni Relations. In the past, individual classes have held reunions to celebrate their milestone anniversaries on various weekends throughout the fall. The new reunion format was announced last year.
Holding a longer reunion in the quieter summer months means Hokies will have enhanced access to campus resources and facilities. For example, reunion participants will have the opportunity to meet with top faculty and athletic coaches, eat in award-winning on-campus dining facilities, and even stay on campus for the entire weekend.
Alumni celebrating milestone reunions will still be able to connect with their classmates. This summer’s reunion will have special events planned for Hokies reuniting for their fifth through 45th anniversaries, but the weekend is open to anyone who wants to participate.
Early bird registration is now open, and the cost is $150. Hokies who register before March 9 save $25.
The cost of the weekend includes all campus programming, special lunches and dinners on Friday and Saturday, Carol Lee donuts and coffee on Saturday, and brunch on Sunday.
