Twenty-two Virginia Tech employees were recently recognized for completing Management Academy, one of the university’s advanced leadership development programs.

For more than a year the group explored core leadership competencies through interactive workshops, 360-feedback assessments, and individualized coaching.

Completion of the program positions these employees to take on increased leadership roles at Virginia Tech in the coming years. Former graduates of both Management Academy and the Executive Development Institute have been promoted or taken on many new and expanding leadership roles within the university.

“The 2017 graduates represent a talented group of leaders with diverse personal, educational, and experiential backgrounds," said Lori Baker-Lloyd, executive director of University Organizational and Professional Development. "Participants describe the program as being informative, challenging, and rewarding. They also talk about the connections they make as well as the great people they meet throughout the year who serve as mentors and facilitators of workshop sessions. We look forward to watching them leverage these new relationships and apply what they learned as they advance the values and goals of the university."

The Executive Development Institute and Management Academy were developed by University Organizational and Professional Development in the Division of Human Resources, and are sponsored by the Office of the President. The two landmark leadership development programs are being reviewed/revamped in 2018, in conjunction with the overall HR transformation project.
