Elizabeth Hansen named director of data administration for Facilities Department
Elizabeth Hansen been named director of data administration for the Virginia Tech Facilities Department, effective May 10.
In her new position, Hansen will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, administration, and maintenance of policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the department’s data.
Hansen will oversee the collection and maintenance of the university’s space and building data. She will also oversee personnel and budgetary responsibilities for all units within the data administration area, including Geospatial Information Systems, building and space data, the Records and Plans Library, and Facilities Enterprise Systems.
“Having accurate, up-to-date data and space information about campus is vital as we continue to grow the university, and this is an important role in ensuring the university is prepared for future growth,” said Chris Kiwus, associate vice president and chief facilities officer. “Elizabeth’s efforts on behalf of facilities have resulted in greatly improved processes, and her experience and leadership skills are perfect for this new position.”
Since coming to Virginia Tech in 2013, she has served in several roles overseeing and managing the financial affairs of the university. In her current position as the director of finance and administration for the Facilities Department, she provides management oversight for the financial and business operations of the department. She has worked with facilities finances since May 2014.
Prior to her arrival at Virginia Tech, Hansen held several different positions as an accountant for private firms in Georgia and New Hampshire, including Deloitte’s Atlanta office. She also served as a lecturer at the University of New Hampshire, teaching an Introduction to Financial Accounting course.
Hansen received her bachelor’s degree in accounting and French from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and a master’s degree in taxation from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.
