Mehul Sanghani to deliver Virginia Tech’s 2017 National Capital Region Commencement address
Mehul Sanghani, founder and chief executive officer of Octo Consulting Group, an award-winning provider of mission-critical technology and digital services to the federal marketplace, will deliver the keynote address at the 2017 Virginia Tech National Capital Region Commencement Ceremony at 1 p.m. on May 14.
The ceremony will take place at the Center for the Arts on the George Mason University campus in Fairfax, Virginia. See the commencement website for details on other ceremonies.
Sanghani, a native of Blacksburg and a member of the Virginia Tech Class of 1998, founded Octo in 2006. Located in Northern Virginia, the firm specializes in providing agile software development, UX design, cloud engineering, and management consulting services for federal civilian, defense, and intelligence agencies.
“It is an honor to deliver the commencement address to the National Capital Region’s graduating class of Hokies,” said Sanghani. “My experiences at Virginia Tech and growing up in Blacksburg had a significant impact on my professional career. I hope that others can take something away from my experiences, meld them with their own education, beliefs, and drive, and create wonderful professional opportunities for themselves as they move into this exciting next stage of their lives.”
Since founding Octo in 2006, Sanghani’s vision and drive have grown the firm into the premier mid-market government contractor with over 300 employees and more than $70 million in revenue. The company has won numerous awards for its exceptional growth, employee culture, and philanthropic service.
Prior to founding Octo, Sanghani held senior leadership roles at Gartner, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Oracle.
He serves on the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors and on boards for the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce and the Virginia Tech Science and Engineering Regional Growth Enterprise.
Sanghani earned separate bachelor’s degrees in industrial systems engineering and psychology from Virginia Tech.
