Bonnie Sutphin recognized with leadership award

SciQuest, Virginia Tech’s e-procurement vendor that is known on campus as HokieMart, has recognized Bonnie Sutphin, associate director for operations in the university’s Procurement Department, with the annual Individual Leadership Award during the presentation of its 2016 Customer Awards.

SciQuest’s Customer Awards recognizes customers who deliver superior value to their organizations using the company’s procurement solutions. Sutphin has been involved with implementing SciQuest as Virginia Tech’s e-procurement solution since its launch in 2008.

Sutphin received the award at the company’s 15th annual user conference, Next Level 2016, on Aug. 24 in Nashville, Tennessee. This four-day event was an opportunity for the brightest minds in procurement to share best practices and discuss innovative technologies that unlock value.

“Bonnie has led the university’s e-procurement efforts since the very beginning of the project, which started over 10 years ago,” said Mary Helmick, director of procurement. “Her vision and steadfast dedication to the HokieMart project have allowed the university to be a leader in higher education e-procurement nationally and provides a secure and efficient method of ordering goods and services for the university. I’m so pleased that SciQuest recognized Bonnie for her efforts and the recognition she deserved."

SciQuest provides spend management solutions and specializes in handling simple procurement needs and advance supplier and supply chain solutions.

Sutphin received her bachelor’s degree from Radford University. She has 47 years of service with the university and leads the administrative and technical teams within the procurement department.
