BLACKSBURG — The following is a message to Virginia Tech employees from Ed Jones, director of Virginia Cooperative Extension and honorary chair of the 2015 Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign.

Dear Colleagues,

Virginia Tech employees have shown incredible support for their community, both locally and beyond, with their generous contributions to the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of more than 1,575 of our colleagues, we raised $319,664 that will have a real impact on the lives of Virginians and others across the country. Together we raised $2,000 more than last year and more employees participated in the campaign than in previous years. During the last six years, Virginia Tech employees have given more than $1.7 million.

Not only did employees make individual gifts, but departments and offices across the university hosted fundraisers and activities to raise money for the campaign as well. More than $8,330 was raised though these activities.

The organizations receiving the most support from Virginia Tech employees included the Free Clinic of the New River Valley, the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program, and the United Way of Montgomery, Radford, and Floyd. Hundreds of other organizations received donations as well.

Once again, Hokie Nation has demonstrated Ut Prosim (That I May Serve) isn’t just Virginia Tech’s motto; it’s our way of life. Thank you again for your generosity. Your donations will make an impact on so many lives.
