Virginia Tech Board of Visitors to meet Aug. 30 and 31
The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors will hold its quarterly board meeting at 1:15 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, in the Falls Church Room at the Virginia Tech Research Center--Arlington, located at 900 North Glebe Road in Arlington, Virginia.
On Sunday, Aug. 30, the board's Research Committee will meet in open session at 11 a.m.in the Falls Church Room. At noon, an open information session will be held for all board members in the Ballston Room, also at the Virginia Tech Research Center--Arlington.
Following the open session and tours of facilities at the Virginia Tech Research Center--Arlington, board members will travel by bus to tour other Virginia Tech facilities located in the National Capital Region, including the Northern Virginia Center in Falls Church, Virginia (7054 Haycock Road, Falls Church, VA), and the Washington-Alexandria Architecture Consortium in Alexandria, Virginia (1001 Prince Street, Alexandria, VA).
On Monday, Aug. 31, the following committee sessions will be held at the Virginia Tech Research Center--Arlington:
- The Academic Affairs Committee will meet in closed session at 8:30 a.m.in the Vienna Room, followed by an open session at 9:30 a.m. at the same location.
- The Buildings and Grounds Committee will meet with the Student Affairs and Athletics Committee in closed session at 8:30 a.m. in the Foggy Bottom Room. Buildings and Grounds will then meet in open session at 9 a.m. in the Farragut West Room. At 10:30 a.m., the committee will meet with the Finance and Audit Committee in open session in the Falls Church Room.
- The Finance and Audit Committee will meet in closed session at 7:30 a.m. in the McPherson Room and will meet in open session at 8:30 a.m. in the Falls Church Room.
- The Student Affairs and Athletics Committee will meet in open session at 9 a.m. in the Foggy Bottom Room.
Following the committee meetings, the full board will meet in open session starting at 11:05 a.m. in the Ballston Room for a 30-minute presentation on the current Virginia Tech student body profile.
During the two-day meeting, the board will consider resolutions on the 2016-2022 Capital Outlay plan, potential state budget requests for 2016-2018, and a capital project to expand the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute Data Center. Board members will also review plans for future research facilities at Kentland Farm.
