In memoriam: Colin Campbell Moore, a junior majoring in agricultural and applied economics
Colin Campbell Moore of Midlothian, Virginia, a junior majoring in agricultural and applied economics in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech, died Jan. 26 in Blacksburg.
He is survived by his loving parents, Lynn Leslie Moore and Michael Alderman Moore; older brother Michael Alderman Moore, Jr.; grandmother, Wanda Ann Bissell; and a large extended family of friends, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Moore was born on Feb. 22, 1994, and packed an extraordinary amount of living during the short time he spent on this earth. At age ten he went to France as an exchange student and thoroughly enjoyed his family vacations to Myrtle Beach, Mountain Lake, the Caribbean, Switzerland, Italy, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia.
Moore was a graduate of the James River High School Leadership Program and a proud member of the school's two-time state champion volleyball team. Growing up, he was active in the Boy Scouts and loved hiking in the mountains and spending time at Sandbridge with his cousins.
Moore will be remembered for his beautiful spirit, special zest for life and a sharp sense of humor and wit. He was a devoted son and loving brother with a heart of gold and a true friend to all who knew him. His circle of friends was broad and deep and he always seemed to be in the middle of the action.
Moore would go out of his way to make you feel welcome and whether you knew him for five minutes or five years he had a knack for making an impression. He believed in giving to others and upon receiving his driver's license immediately signed up to be an organ donor.
The family will receive friends at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Salisbury Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Midlothian. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to BSA Troop 1829 or the JRHS Volleyball Team. To celebrate Moore's life, the family's asks that any photos you want to share be posted to the Colin Moore Memorial site on Flickr.
