Nena Bauman joins veterinary college as senior director of development
Nena Bauman has joined the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech as senior director of development.
In her new role, Bauman will lead fundraising activities for the veterinary college’s operations, capital, and endowment and serve as its chief major gift officer. Working with both the Office of University Development and the college’s senior leadership, Bauman will be responsible for the recognition and stewardship of major donors to the college, including the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, Virginia.
Bauman comes to Virginia Tech from Ohio State University. Most recently, she was the director of development for Ohio State’s College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college at the university. She previously worked in the college’s Natural and Mathematical Sciences Division, where she was the division lead and project leader for a new chemical and biomolecular engineering building.
Bauman also served as the manager of major gifts and planned giving for WOSU, the university’s public radio and television affiliates.
Before her work at Ohio State, Bauman raised money for people with disabilities as director of development for a nonprofit agency, Vision and Vocational Services. She also spent 10 years as a pastor for the United Methodist Church before pursuing a career in development.
Bauman received her bachelor’s degree from Ohio State, a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Master of Divinity degree from Methodist Theological School in Ohio.
