In less than a year, more than a thousand health care professionals, decision-makers, students, patients, and caregivers will come to Roanoke for the fifth Collaborating Across Borders (CAB V), a conference that links the United States and Canada on issues related to interprofessional education and collaborative practice.

The event will be held Sept. 29 through Oct. 2, 2015 at The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center

Organizers of the event – which include regional leadership by the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute, Jefferson College of Health Sciences, Continuing and Professional Education at Virginia Tech, and Carilion Clinic – are seeking abstracts to be considered for presentation.

The conference, The Interprofessional Journey: Advancing Integration and Impact, will include sessions on education, research, and practice in interprofessionalism, best practices, and the advancement of interprofessional collaboration to improve health outcomes.

“Collaborating Across Borders is the premier North American conference on educating and implementing effective health care teams,” said Dr. David Trinkle, associate dean for community and culture at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, who is overseeing the local planning aspects for the conference. “CAB V will showcase theoretical models, evidence-based outcomes, and lessons learned. It will also provide a venue for scholarly dialogue and productive networking. Plus, it will allow us to showcase all that this region has to offer.”

The event, sponsored every two years by the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative and the Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative, alternates between Canadian and U.S. venues.

The submission deadline for abstracts is Dec. 19, 2014. A complete registration packet, including submission guidelines and conference themes, appears on the CAB V website.
