Cayce Myers has been appointed an assistant professor in the Department of Communication in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech.

Myers is one of 27 new tenure-track faculty members at the college this fall. The new hires are part of the college’s ongoing efforts to attract renowned scholars to strengthen and expand its teaching, research, and engagement programs. The college has added more than 100 full-time permanent faculty members in the past four years.

Myers’ research interests include the historical development of public relations and the legal issues affecting its practice; the development of American public relations in the 19th and early 20th centuries; and current legal issues concerning social media as they affect public relations practice. He will teach public relations writing and editing, and public relations case studies.

Myers has been published in a number of journals and has articles pending in Public Relations Review and Journal of Southern Legal History.

A former practicing attorney, Myers has a bachelor's degree from Emory University, a Juris Doctor degree from Mercer University, and two master's degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.
