Area businesses and non-profit groups, as well as university programs and student clubs and organizations may register now to participate in Goblerfest 2014, the annual town-gown festival that welcomes new and returning students to Blacksburg and the New River Valley.

Hosted by Student Centers and Activities in Virginia Tech’s Division of Student Affairs, Gobblerfest 2014 will be held on Friday, Sept. 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. on the Virginia Tech Drillfield.

Now in its seventh year, Gobblerfest has become an annual fall tradition held at the start of the Virginia Tech academic year that strengthens the ties between the university and the broader community. The festival helps new students, faculty and staff feel more at home as they learn more about the many university and community services, agencies, businesses, clubs and organizations available to them.

In addition to hundreds of information booths and displays, the free event features food, entertainment, and countless opportunities to meet new people and discover what makes the New River Valley a special place to live.

Organizations and businesses that wish to participate in Gobblerfest 2014 must register no later than Friday, Aug. 29. To register, or to learn the latest updates, visit the Gobblerfest website.
