Andrew J. Scerri joins political science faculty
Andrew J. Scerri has been appointed an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at Virginia Tech’s College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
Scerri is one of 14 new faculty members at the college this fall. These new hires are part of the college’s ongoing efforts to attract renowned scholars to strengthen and expand its teaching, research, and engagement programs. More than 70 full-time permanent faculty members have been added to the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences in the past three years under the leadership of Dean Sue Ott Rowlands.
His research areas include environmental, political, and social theory and comparative studies of debates over urban sustainable-development policies. He is the author of “Greening Citizenship: Sustainable Development, the State and Ideology” (Palgrave Macmillan), has contributed a number of book chapters, and has written articles for several leading journals.
At Virginia Tech, he will teach courses on global environmental issues and environmental policy and politics.
Scerri holds a Ph.D. in international studies from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia and a Bachelor of Arts in social sciences from the University of Technology in Sydney.
