Takumi C. Sato joins School of Education faculty
Takumi C. Sato has been appointed a clinical assistant professor in the School of Education at Virginia Tech’s College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
Sato is one of 14 new faculty members at the college this fall. These new hires are part of the college’s ongoing efforts to attract renowned scholars to strengthen and expand its teaching, research, and engagement programs. More than 70 full-time permanent faculty members have been added to the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences in the past three years under the leadership of Dean Sue Ott Rowlands.
Sato’s research interests include critical race methodology, youth participatory action research, equity, and social justice. He is the program advisor for Virginia Tech’s distance learning program and is teaching courses in elementary science methods and technology in the science classroom.
Sato holds a Ph.D. in curriculum, instruction, and teacher education from Michigan State University and a bachelor's degree in biology from Washington University in St. Louis. A specialist in science education, he has presented his work at several major research conferences and was selected to participate in the Sandra K. Abell Institute for doctoral students.
