Ann K. Craig of Radford has been named director of organizational advancement at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute. She has been director of communications and program development for the university’s Institute for Critical Technology and Applied Science since 2007.

Craig has been with Virginia Tech since 1975. Previous positions have included being co-director of the proposal development team with the Virginia Tech Office of Research; associate director of finance and administration for the Center for Power Electronics Systems, a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center; director of business services for the Mobile and Portable Radio Research Group, and business manager for Virginia Tech Intellectual Properties Inc. She has worked in human resources, negotiation and administration, economic development, marketing, education, and industry program development. 

She also served as a consultant to the National Science Foundation for purposes of assessing administrative effectiveness in foundation Engineering Research Centers nationwide. 

“Ms. Craig’s experience with funding agencies and industries, other successful university centers and institutes, and intellectual property is important to this institute,” said Tom Dingus, director of the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute.

Craig has earned degrees in business administration and is a nationally Certified Research Administrator.
