The high-tech, highly visible Virginia Tech Research Center – Arlington is home to two new leaders in continuing and professional education.

Jennifer Carter and Faren McNabb are located in the new university facility located in the fast-growing Ballston area at 900 North Glebe Road in Arlington.

Carter was recently named an assistant director for Continuing and Professional Education at Virginia Tech and is charged with developing partnerships and delivering outreach programs in the National Capital Region. She is primarily responsible for reaching new clients with a focus on corporate and public-sector business.

Formerly the director of outreach and the instructional design coordinator for the Society for Science and the Public, Carter has also held positions at the Science Application International Corporation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She earned a master's degree in national security and public safety from the University of New Haven and a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Georgia.

McNabb has been named conference center manager with responsibilities for marketing and sales of conference space in the new facility. A Virginia Tech hospitality and tourism management graduate from the Pamplin College of Business, McNabb was previously the events manager at Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Washington DC – Crystal City in Arlington.

“We are delighted to have Jennifer and Faren on our Continuing and Professional Education team,” said Susan Short, associate vice president for engagement for Outreach and International Affairs. “The National Capital Region and this facility in particular offer great opportunities for building relationships and fulfilling the educational and meeting space needs of the many public and private-sector organizations in the region.”

The conference center is located on the second of the building’s seven floors and consists of nine meeting rooms including a tiered-seating lecture hall, a versatile multipurpose room, and a demonstration/visualization room with a 20-foot, ultra-high-resolution projection screen.
