Virginia Tech's 2010 Homecoming King and Queen were crowned during the football game against Wake Forest University on Homecoming weekend after weeks of campaigning. 

Emily Bailey, sponsored by Campus Crusade for Christ, and Nathan Lavinka, sponsored by the German Club, won this year's titles.

Homecoming Queen Emily Bailey of Virginia Beach, Va., is a senior majoring in marketing management in the Pamplin College of Business. Bailey is director of education for her sorority, Alpha Phi, and ministry team leader for Legacy Greek Life Ministry. She has also served as a Hokie Camp counselor. Bailey has participated in numerous service organizations and events, including an internship with the Special Hope Network, service to the Nicaraguan Orphan Fund, and participation in Relay for Life and the Big Event.

Homecoming King Nathan Lavinka of Chester, Va., is a senior majoring in marketing in the Pamplin College of Business and communication in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. He is the president for the class of 2011. Lavinka also serves as the chair of the Commission on Student Affairs, the recruiting chair for the German Club, a Hokie Ambassador, a Pamplin Ambassador, and a member of Student Alumni Associates. In addition, he has been a Hokie Camp counselor, orientation assistant, orientation leader, and co-director for the Big Event.

The process of selecting the king and queen began with with 36 applicants. The selection committee narrowed them down to 16 court candidates. After weeks of campaigning, Bailey and Lavinka won by receiving 19 and 22 percent of the votes, respectively.

Both Bailey and Lavinka are available to serve the university community by making special appearances at events, conducting emcee duties, and other similar services. More information on Bailey and Lavinka and the other Homecoming Court members is available on the homecoming court website.
