The deadline to register for Gobblerfest 2010 is Friday, Aug. 13.

Registration for Gobblerfest 2010 is online. Area businesses, Virginia Tech departments, student organizations, and non-profits are encouraged to register for the event. Everyone is welcome to take part in Gobblerfest.

Gobblerfest, a welcome festival for students, staff, faculty, and community members will be held Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 from 3 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. outside of Squires Student Center on Virginia Tech’s campus, up College Avenue into the downtown business district, and inside Squires in the evening.

The event, a part of Hokie Hi, is free, and students, staff, faculty, and community members are encouraged to attend. Activities include games, food, inflatables, and musical performances, as well as the VT-ENGAGE volunteer fair, student organization showcase, and the Class of 2012 Kickoff Concert and pep rally.

Gobblerfest 2009 was attended by more than 18,000 students and community members who came to learn what local businesses have to offer, how they could get involved in student organizations, and what volunteer opportunities are in our community. Gobblerfest proved to be a wonderful way to welcome new and returning members of the Virginia Tech and Blacksburg communities to the Hokie neighborhood in a fun and festive atmosphere.

Those interested in registering for booths should visit the Gobblerfest website or go directly to the registration page. The basic registration fee is $100. Business members of Downtown Blacksburg Inc. can register for $50. For student organizations and non-profits, the registration fee is waived. The Student Budget Board and VT-ENGAGE will cover the costs for those registrants. Additional opportunities for higher levels of sponsorship are also available. The registration deadline is Friday, Aug. 13, 2010 at 5 p.m.

The Division of Student Affairs is hosting Gobblerfest with the coordination and cooperation of a variety of campus, municipal, business, and non-profit partners. They include University Unions, Student Activities, VT-Engage, the Campus Alcohol Abuse Prevention Center, the Student Budget Board, the Class of 2012, the office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, and the Dean of Students office.
