Starting Nov. 16, D2 dining center at Virginia Tech will be hosting Chalk Talks with various Virginia Tech coaches in the East Flex dining area during lunch.

The Chalk Talks, which will run through the spring semester, will provide students the opportunity to learn more about the players, the coaches, and the opposing teams, and ask questions about upcoming games.

The Chalk Talks will begin at noon with a talk by a guest coach, who will be announced in the campus dining centers before each event. At 12:30 p.m., Seth Greenberg, the head men’s basketball coach, will discuss any upcoming basketball games, his strategies, and the players before opening the floor for questions. Following the event, students will be given the opportunity to talk with the coaches one-on-one, get photos and autographs, and enter to win prizes.

Currently, Chalk Talks have been scheduled for:

  • Monday, Nov. 16
  • Thursday, Dec. 3
  • Wednesday, Dec. 9
  • Thursday, Jan. 21
  • Thursday, Feb. 4
  • Thursday, Feb. 11
  • Tuesday, Feb. 16
  • Thursday, Feb. 25
  • Tuesday, March 2

Although the guest coach will be announced prior to each event, Coach Greenberg will be present for all Chalk Talks. Capacity is limited to 144, so anyone interested in attending is encouraged to arrive early.

“It’s really important to connect with the student body, and I think the Chalk Talks will be a great way to get them involved,” says Greenberg. “They have been an important part of our success over the last six years, and we want to make sure that our student support continues to grow.”

There is no additional charge for attending the Chalk Talks, which will be available via Flex dining plan at the regular lunch price of $2.85, or $8.80 for cash, Dining Dollars, or Hokie Passport Account.
