The second annual Two-Minute Film Festival, organized by the School of Visual Arts in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies, is gearing up for another 24-hour competition.

April 14 Editor's note:
The Two-Minute Film Festival has been moved to October 2009 to accommodate numerous requests from students who are interested in participating, but have been unable to commit because of the proximity to end-of-semester projects and final exams.

This year, the festival will be awarding $2,700 in prizes for the best two-minute films. Teams of three will need to register online; then on April 17, at noon, a secret topic will be announced on the main page of the film festival website.

Teams then have 24 hours to make their best film on their interpretation of the secret topic. An audience will vote for their favorite film at the film festival premiere at 6:30 p.m., Monday, April 20 at Colonial Hall in the Squires Student Center. The film with the most votes will win $900; the second place prize is $600, third place prize is $300, and the Judge's Choice winner will receive $900.

The contest is open to anyone (college and high school students, faculty and staff, and amateur and professional film makers). The film festival premiere on April 20 is free and open to the public.

Last year, 21 teams from six schools competed in the event and more than 500 people were in attendance at the film festival premiere.

Two-Minute Film Festival sponsors are the School of Visual Arts, Modea, New City Media, Armory Gallery, Mailtrust, AIGA, Exemplum, and AMP.
