Gov. Timothy Kaine recently appointed three new members and reappointed one member to the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors for terms running through June 30, 2012.

The new appointees, whose first board meetings were Aug. 24-25, were Frederick Cobb of Richmond, Douglas Fahl of Leesburg, and Calvin Jamison of Richardson, Texas. Beverly Dalton of Campbell County was reappointed.

Cobb, a former member of the university’s Arts and Sciences Executive Committee, owns Cobb Technologies, one the largest independent document management dealers in Virginia. Cobb, a 1979 communication graduate of Virginia Tech, is also a private real estate investor. Cobb serves on the board of visitors’ Student Affairs and Athletics Committee.

Dewberry Executive Vice President Douglas R. Fahl, who is a graduate of the university’s civil engineering program, is responsible for his firm’s land development design offices throughout the greater northern Virginia area. Dewberry is professional services firm with 34 offices and 1,955 employees nationwide. Headquartered in Fairfax, its 2007 revenue was $306 million. Fahl serves on the board of visitors’ Academic Affairs Committee.

Jamison is vice president for business affairs at the University of Texas at Dallas. He formerly was senior vice president and chief administrative officer at Hampton University, and is also a former manager of the City of Richmond. Also an alumnus, he holds a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. He serves on the board of visitors’ Buildings and Grounds Committee.

Dalton chairs the board at English Construction, a family-owned firm founded in 1909, which provides construction services throughout the Mid-Atlantic. She serves on the board of visitors’ Finance and Audit Committee.
